Colombia has everything a passport bro would want. Low cost of living, absolutely gorgeous women, beautiful topography, and friendly people. I loved Colombia and I don’t regret going there at all. So then why didn’t I stay there?
Well for one thing I got robbed my first week there. My tour guide/buddy went to a strip club and my phone was stolen from the table of the restaurant by a waiter there. That didn’t leave a good taste in my mouth.
The problem is it just isn’t safe there. Don’t get me wrong the country has made some fantastic strides since the days of Pablo Escobar but it’s still not a safe place to be. My tour guide would always tell me ‘Don’t go down that street’ or ‘Make sure you’re out of this area by sunset’. In the Colombia Expats Facebook group, I’d always hear people saying they got drugged by their date or they got robbed by a cop.
Side note: Not only is prostitution legal there it’s so rampant it’s actually cheaper to just hire a girl for the night than to take one out for dinner and a movie.
However, being robbed drugged or even killed was too much for me. No pussy is worth that.
The Philippines is nice, it’s easier to get a long-term visa than in Thailand (or Colombia for that matter) and the people are friendly. In the Philippines, the beggars are just annoying but they’re not aggressive. In Colombia, they’ll do anything to get what they want. The cost of living is extremely low. Just $2,500 a month puts you damn near the top of the social totem pole.
